AO Community Services
About Our Program

Communities are as strong as the people who are part of them. All of us require support to live a full and active life.

A.O. Community Services supports communities and individuals within them by providing support for:

Adults with Developmental Disabilities
• Individualized Supported Living
• Community Integration

Children, Youth and Families In Crisis
• Intensive In-Home Services
• Mentoring/Family Assistance
• Family-Focused Residential

• Case Management
• Treatment Foster Homes
• Individualized Supported Living for Adolescents

Transitional Age Youth
• Transitional Living Centers for Young Men and for Young Women
• Individual Apartment Supports

We believe that individuals needing additional supports do the best in their home communities. We believe services should be available at the time a problem or need for support is first identified. We believe that most people are capable of learning the skills to care for themselves and participate in their community. We believe communities are enriched by the full participation of all members.

We provide services in and around the following areas:
• Cape Girardeau
• Joplin
• Kansas City
• Poplar Bluff
• Rolla
• Sikeston
• Springfield
• West Plains

We can additionally provide transitional supports to youth in any area our organization serves which includes St. Louis, all of southern Missouri, Camdenton, Nevada and Kansas City.

To create and offer opportunities for people to use their strengths and participate in their communities in a meaningful way.

“We are proud of the people who work with us to provide supports. They take advantage of the opportunity to serve people in an individualized manner and genuinely enjoy their work. They are chosen to support each person’s particular needs, are trained to meet or exceed state requirements for their positions and are selected by the people they support.”

Our last CARF survey reported “Long-term, dedicated staff members have extensive experience in providing community-based services. Relatively low turnover and longevity of key staff members ensure a backbone of consistency and expertise."
